Preliminary Task T2-59

T2-59 PRELIMINARY TASK - YR12_2009 from SATMEDIASTUDIES on Vimeo.

180 Degree Rule:

This rule applies to all conversation recordings in interviewing and sports ect... It is highly recommended that this rules apply to all conversations. This ensures that there is no confusion on the characters positions in scene, it's hard to explain but if you can imagine, the characters would jump from being on the right side of the screen to the left, if you do not abide by this rule.
This is shown below:

What is continuity editing?
This is the progression of a scene where all clips run smoothly. They don't jump around, they continue through until the end. To provide a smooth feel over the inherent discontinuity of cuts.

Match on Action:
This term is associated with a type of filming/editing, it means to link together two different cuts instantaniously, e.g. opening a door - to - walking through.

Shot Reverse Shot:
This technique is often used when two charecters are having an conversation. The first shot is always of one charecter facing off screen, then the camera cuts to another charecter "Replying" also off-screen, looking in a different direction. This is to give the impression they are looking at each other. Makes the flow of a conversion very easy to keep up with.
